About this U.S. paycheck calculator
This project is built to help people in the United States estimate take-home pay for salary, hourly, overtime, and bonus paycheck scenarios. It is designed for W-2 employees who want a faster, clearer estimate before payday, while still being able to review the payroll assumptions behind the numbers.
What this calculator covers
- salary and hourly paychecks
- overtime and additional taxable pay
- federal withholding using W-4 style inputs
- Social Security, Medicare, and Additional Medicare
- bonus and supplemental wage withholding scenarios
- selected state supplemental wage handling plus manual state adjustments
What this calculator does not claim
- It does not replace your employer's payroll system.
- It does not guarantee the exact amount of your next paycheck.
- It does not model every local tax, benefit plan, or payroll-provider rule.
- It does not replace personal tax, legal, or payroll advice.
Editorial and data approach
The calculator content is written in U.S. English for a U.S. payroll audience and is meant to be helpful first. Payroll logic is built from official source material such as IRS withholding guidance, Social Security Administration wage-base information, and selected state payroll references where those state-specific rules are supported in the calculator.
When the calculator cannot responsibly claim exact state-specific handling, it falls back to a transparent manual estimate instead of pretending to be more exact than it is.
